What are the various types of mutual funds?

There is a mutual fund for every investor type that is best suited for their investment needs.

  • Equity Funds:¬†These invest only in stocks.

  • Debt Funds:¬†These schemes invest in fixed income instruments such as debentures (bonds), Treasury Bills, etc.¬†

  • Hybrid Funds: These invest in a mix of stocks and bonds.¬†

  • Tax Saver Funds: These are Equity Mutual Funds that provide tax benefits under Section 80C of the Income-tax Act,1961 and have a lock-in period of 3 years.¬†

  • Gold Funds: These mainly invest in Gold ETFs and other related assets.
